Museums
Given the French peoples love for ‘all things
cultural’ it is no surprise to be told that
there are a good many number of quality museums
in the Gers region, including a good few which
combine another great French passion - food and
drink.
Musee d’Artagnan

Gascony’s famous musketeer, who was born in the
town. English commentary guides are available if
your French is not quite up to scratch. The
museum’s opening times are: September to June,
2pm to 6pm, closed Mondays; July and August,
10.30am to 7pm; January to February 15th the
museum is closed.
Musee des Beaux Arts
This museum in Mirande houses an exceptional
range of French, Italian and Flemish and local
paintings, created from the 15th to 19th
centuries, as well as earthenware made in the
South West of France. Open Monday to Saturday,
10am to 12pm, and 3pm to 6pm. Closed on Sundays
and holidays.
Armagnac Museum
Located in the outbuildings of the bishop of
Condom’s old palace, The Armagnac museum houses
an interesting collection of old wine-making
materials, including an 18 ton press. Opening

Tuesday.
