  Museums
Given the French peoples love for ‘all things cultural’ it is no surprise to be told that there are a good many number of quality museums in the Gers region, including a good few which combine another great French passion - food and drink.

Musee d’Artagnan
Based in Lupiac, this museum is dedicated to Gascony’s famous musketeer, who was born in the town. English commentary guides are available if your French is not quite up to scratch. The museum’s opening times are: September to June, 2pm to 6pm, closed Mondays; July and August, 10.30am to 7pm; January to February 15th the museum is closed.

Musee des Beaux Arts
This museum in Mirande houses an exceptional range of French, Italian and Flemish and local paintings, created from the 15th to 19th centuries, as well as earthenware made in the South West of France. Open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 12pm, and 3pm to 6pm. Closed on Sundays and holidays.

Armagnac Museum
Located in the outbuildings of the bishop of Condom’s old palace, The Armagnac museum houses an interesting collection of old wine-making materials, including an 18 ton press. Opening times: April to October 10am to 12pm and 3pm to 6pm, November to March 3pm to 5pm. Closed every Tuesday.
